Welcome to Planning in South Australia

This is the South Australian Government's Department of Planning and Local Government site for information about the State's planning and development system and associated services, including the building rules.

The State Government is embarking on the broadest range of planning reforms seen in South Australia in decades.

The reforms include faster assessments and approvals for the full range of residential home building matters, from minor improvements through to major extensions and even new dwellings, and will see the creation of a new 30-year Plan for Adelaide to guide the city's future growth and development.

Visit the Planning Reforms section of this website for detail.
