Victor Harbor - Encounter Bay Village Shopping Centre

Proponent: Makris Corporation

Proposal description: A proposal to build a $250 million retail and community complex (the 'Encounter Bay Village Shopping Centre') has been put forward by the Makris Corporation, which has identified a site four kilometres west south west of the existing Victor Harbor town centre for the development.

The Makris proposal includes:

• Food and non-food retail floor space, including a discount department store
• Bulky goods retailing
• Petrol sales and fast food outlets
• A mall environment with an “international food court”
• Cinemas and related entertainment activities
• Community use, including provision for a small library or meeting rooms
• Recreational areas including landscaped zones, walking trails, and fitness trails and
• Car parking spaces.

The company has also proposed a medium density residential development adjacent to the shopping centre, with the aim of increasing the population close to the complex.
