River Torrens Linear Park Act 2006
The 35-km-log linear park that runs along either side of the River Torrens through metopolitan Adelaide is to be given full protection from sale or development. The protections are contained in the River Torrens Linear Park Act 2006, which was introduced into Parliament on 2 May 2006 and passed on 21 June 2006.

Following its introduction on 2 May, the Bill was debated in the Legislative Council on the following days: 11 May 2006, 30 May 2006, 6 June 2006. Summary of key changes
The bill seeks to reflect that:
- the linear park is of national significance; and
- the park is for the public benefit and should generally be available for the use and enjoyment of the public; and
- land within the linear park should be retained and govern¬ment should not sell land within the park out of govern¬ment ownership without the approval of both houses of parliament.
