Development Assessment Commission
Part 2 of the Development Act 1993 establishes an independent Development Assessment Commission (DAC), which determines specified kinds of development applications. Development Policy Advisory Committee (DPAC)
The Development Policy Advisory Committee is a statutory committee established under South Australia’s Development Act 1993 to provide independent advice to the Minister for Urban Development and Planning on:
- Any matter relating to planning or development
- Any matter relating to the design or construction of buildings
- The administration of the Development Act
- The policies that govern the administration of the Development Act
- Proposals to make regulations under the Development Act, or to make amendments to the Act
- Proposals to amend local area Development Plans
- Other assigned functions.
Local Government Association of South Australia
Under the Development Act 1993 and associated Regulations, the vast majority (around 90 percent) of development applications are determined by local councils in their role as assessment authorities. Land Management Corporation
The Land Management Corporation (LMC) is the State Government corporation responsible for managing and developing South Australia’s portfolio of land assets. Formed under the Public Corporations Act, LMC is managed by a Board under the direction of the Minister for Infrastructure. LMC is a public entity with a commercial focus, with the task of delivering high quality urban places for South Australians, through the management and development of residential and industrial land, commercial property and major urban projects.
Planning Institute of Australia
The Planning Institute of Australia is the peak body representing professions involved in planning Australia’s cities, towns, regions and places. The Planning Institute was founded in 1951 and is the only national organisation representing qualified urban and regional planners and other related disciplines in Australia.
Development Assessment Forum
The Development Assessment Forum was created to identify leading edge approaches to development assessment in Australia and encourage adoption of best practice around the nation. The Forum's membership includes the three spheres of government (Commonwealth, State/Territory and Local Government); the development industry; and related professional associations.
