Planning Reforms 2008
The State Government is embarking on the broadest range of planning reforms seen in South Australia in decades.
These reforms will build on our current strengths to see the South Australian planning system become the most efficient and effective in the nation.
The Reforms
Among the Reforms are:
- A four-pronged approach to achieve faster assessments and approvals for the full range of residential home building matters, from minor improvements through to major extensions and even new dwellings. This will include the introduction of a new Residential Development Code (a Discussion Draft has been released for consultation)
- A new 30-year Plan for Adelaide, to guide the growth and development of the Greater Adelaide Region over the next three decades. The Plan will be developed over the next 12 months and will include directing growth into selected transport corridors and new 'transit oriented developments', as well as providing a guaranteed 25-year supply of broadacre land for structure planned fringe suburban growth
- Five new Regional Plans for country SA, including Master Plans for large regional towns and cities
